Robotic underground mapping and surveying: System development, deployment, and data integration

K-12 outreach topics

Robots, space mining, remote sensing

  • The aim of my research is to develop a robotic system capable of simultaneously capturing the disparate data sets required for mapping the geology and geometry of underground voids and spaces, with potential applications in the mining, civil construction, and space resources sectors. I hold a B.Sc. in Geology from West Virginia University and a Professional Master in Mineral Exploration from Colorado School of Mines. I have worked as a geophysicist for a defense contractor and as an independent geological consultant. When not exercising on my mountain bike and skiing, I enjoy resting on my laurels.
